Burghley Horse Trials

Burghley House is a mere 10 miles from our hotel, and this annual event is one of the largest in the UK sporting calendar a firm favourite with the equestrian community and a fantastic day out for all the family!

Cycling

With its miles of cyclepaths, gently undulating landscape and winding country lanes, Rutland lends itself beautifully to being explored by bicycle - and, if you stay for three or more nights, you can hire a bicycle free of charge for two hours from our friends at Rutland Cycling.

Fishing

With our fantastic location on the shores of Rutland Water, renowned as one of the finest trout fishing lakes in Europe, we have teamed up with Rutland Water Fly Fishing Adventures to offer fishing packages and breaks. We can arrange tailor-made, friendly, patient and informative fly fishing lessons for all abilities, from complete beginners to improvers.

Rock Climbing

Offering NGB-qualified instruction, Outdoor Adventures is little more than a stone's throw from our hotel. Try your hand at scaling the 35ft climbing wall - a fabulous individual or family activity - or perhaps for a corporate team building event?

Sailing

Whether you're a water baby or a landlubber, why not give sailing on Rutland Water a go? Rutland Sailing School is run by a team of fully-trained instructors whose reputation is second to none and will give you the confidence to earn your sea (or is it lake?) legs!

The Beach!

Despite our landlocked location, we do have a beach on the north shore of Rutland Water that can be accessed throughout the year!
